So today I'm going to blog about...blogging. Say that five times fast. I'm going to share with you some of my tips on how to start a blog, how to make it a good one, why I find it to be useful, and show you some of my favorite blogs, too!
How to Start a Blog
There are so many websites that will allow you to create a free site. This one, obviously, is Weebly. You could also pay for a domain, which would allow you to use the upgraded features of a site...that gets expensive, though.
Getting used to the site takes a little bit of time. The more you blog, the better you'll get at it. I'm pretty good with computers, and I don't find this site to be particularly user-friendly...but it does the job.
How to Make It a Good One
When I started this blog, I thought, "Oh, I'll probably get, I don't know, 35 views a day."
I was very off. I get 800 views a day. Eight. Hundred.
Make your blog a good one by sharing it on your social media. I have my settings send each blog post I publish to my Twitter and my Facebook. I share it on some form of my social media every day to ensure that it will pop up on newsfeeds every day. Blog often. The more you post, the more people will look at your site. My viewers go up by several hundred on the days when I post something new. Blog about a variety of things. Keep your viewers interested. Blog about many aspects of your life. You'll have some readers who love reading your beauty posts, and some readers who love reading your cooking posts, but not your fashion posts or your home decor posts. It all varies. Give them options.
Why Blogging is Good for You
Aah, why blogging is good for you. First and foremost, for us writers, blogging is therapeutic. Just like writing in a journal. Same thing, just more public and more creative. Number 2 -- It makes you a better writer. Reading your old posts will help you pick up on your own mistakes, realize what you could've done differently, etc. You improve as you go. The more you write, the better writer you will become. Most importantly, it helps develop your voice. A lot of the feedback I get with my blog pertains to being able to read it in "Anna Larimore's voice" ... that's a major compliment. Third, it helps people. At least once a day I have someone ask me a question about a makeup product, tell me they bought my hair products and they love them, share with me that they are inspired by my daily readings...It's a good feeling to know that the things you're saying are helping your readers in their personal lives. You will not go unheard. It gets your name out there. Whether you want to actually be a writer, or you want to pursue any of the things that you're writing about, people will see you, read you, and hear you. It allows people to see you with a more wholesome perspective. Your readers will get a pretty good understanding of who you are, what your passions are, what your strengths and weaknesses are, what your goals are, and what kind of character you have. Lastly..it's fun! Seriously! Blogging will teach you about the things you're interested in because you'll be doing some research before writing. If you are a reader and a writer...you'll enjoy it. It's good for you.
My Favorite Blogs
If you're gonna write blogs, you gotta read blogs. Read blogs that interest you that inspire you to write and to learn. I read a variety of blogs, but some of my favorites that are similar to the things that I write are...

A Cup of Jo: very well-rounded blog about a mommy who lives in NYC. beauty, fashion, relationships, travel.
Elephantine: she sells jewelry and kitchen items on her blog! perfect for the fashionista and the chef.
Emily Maynard: yes, from the bachelor! a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blog! she is so precious.
There are so many more that I love, but these are similar to what I write, so if you read mine, you'll LOVE these. They're way more developed than mine and are an inspiration to me! I will post the links at the bottom of this page.
