So, my one year blog birthday is coming up, and I've been in the process (for a while now) of turning some things over to a completely different website. Don't worry -- I'm not going anywhere just yet.
Instead of giving you a play-by-play of my Thanksgiving break, or breaking up all of the different blog ideas in my head into different posts, I'll just make a compilation of it all by sharing links with you that represent all of these new ideas of mine // things going on in my life.
Here we go ...
TRY something different with your hair. I just went from about as blonde as blonde could get to "bronde" -- a little bit of brown, a little bit of blonde. I got full lowlights and a trim by my amazing hairdresser (and old co-worker) in Ellicott City, Maryland at Image Hair Studio on Route 40 (Ask for Jen). Think of it as Jennifer Aniston and Gisele Bundchen's signature look. Don't miss out on trends...after all, bronde is the new blonde.
DRINK what you wouldn't normally drink, EAT what you wouldn't normally eat. I know we all have those staples at our favorite restaurants, but don't you ever get bored? Even just a little bit? I've recently traded in my white wine for red wine, and it's the best thing ever. I got hooked on red wine when I was touring the Stellenbosch Winelands in South Africa (pictured below -- my favorite, Fairview). Red wine isn't so bad for your health, either. So if you're gonna drink alcohol, it's a pretty good choice. Did you know...
-Red wine's health benefits can, in some ways, equate to an hour of exercise.
-Red wine is good for your skin and heart due to its abundance of antioxidants.
-Red wine acts as a mouthwash because the oils it naturally contains reduce bad bacteria.
So pour yourself a glass of Cabernet while you read the links below. You'll see that it'll do more than just make your teeth blue. And if you're located in my hometown of Howard County, Maryland, check out the new place in the Turf Valley shopping center, Pinot's Palette. You can find places like this anywhere you are ... but nonetheless, it's a great alternative to doing the things you'd always do for fun! Go out and do something you wouldn't normally do while drinking something you wouldn't normally drink.
REMEMBER that God is with you and acts for you and because of you. Life can be stressful, and college kids are realizing the pressures of regular life more and more as we grow up -- making good grades, job-searching, making money to afford important things rather than trivial things, dating for real, planning for the future -- and in the midst of all of the anxiety and stress, it's important to remember that we have a God who has it all figured out for us and is working us through life accordingly. We need to have faith in this. And in doing so, we need to surround ourselves with people who lift us higher and will support us in these big life decisions and in all of the little things. Before you lay your head down tonight, think -- "Am I surrounding myself with toxic people who are detrimental to my happiness and success, and display jealousy and hatred towards me and around me? Or am I surrounding myself with people who are happy for me, uplifting to me, and are a good demonstration and example of Jesus and how we should be treating other people?"
And while you're answering that...you can read:
I hope you enjoyed the first "links of the week" post! Have a great night and a great rest of the week.
