{mason jar flower arrangements}

Hey friends,

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING! I
haven't done a home decor post in so long, sorry about that! I do have some cool things brewing. Here's a mini-post of the easiest DIY in the world that will brighten up a room in no time -- mason jar flower arrangements!
Picture
All ya need -- buy mason jars in bulk at Target, pick up some fresh flowers, and if you CHOOSE to decorate them (I love to)...pick up some ribbon, some lace, some burlap, some paint, whatever. Here are some pretty mason jar flower arrangements on my Pinterest! (My favorite? Gerber daisies!)

Yesterday, Amber and I made a little deal -- she cleaned my room while I cooked her dinner! She took "Spring Cleaning" to a whole new level...my bedroom, bathroom, and closet are spotless! She organized for me, too. Today it finally felt like Spring weather...Aubrey and I drove to the store with the windows down in our shorts and flip flops and bought fresh flowers and new candles. Now my room is ready for Spring and feels better than ever :)

Why wait around for someone to buy you flowers when you can just buy them yourself? Literally take a second to stop and smell the roses.

What did you do today on this first day of Spring?

xoxo,

Anna

After posting several beauty posts, a fitness post, some book reviews, and a personal post...I thought I would just do a very short write-up of one of my favorite things...Candles!

The picture above is a picture of my bedroom. I have candles on every table, lots of Buddha statues and tapestries, incense burning...you get the idea. I love the mood that I create between the lighting and the scents. My room (when clean...I'm kind of a slob) is so relaxing and peaceful. Everyone who comes into my room LOVES my candles and asks me where they can get them...so I thought I would just go ahead and show you some of my favorites.
1. Alex and Ani

I bet you didn't know that Alex and Ani sold candles! If you've heard of them, you are probably familiar with their bracelets. I have a pretty good stack going on my own arm. They are a small company out of Rhode Island, but they've gotten huge in the last year or so. The cool thing about Alex and Ani is that when purchasing their candles, you are donating to the charity "Blessings in a Backpack" to support the fight against child hunger. Their candles are sure to revitalize your space and spirit with positive energy.

2. Diamond Candles

Diamond Candles is a company out of Durham, North Carolina that has a pretty romantic story behind it. The owner of the business thought of the idea when he and his wife were first married. He bought a ring for her as an anniversary gift, but he couldn't find a gift bag to put the ring in. He instead found a candle and hid the ring in the candle for her to find later.

Now, you can purchase your own Diamond Candle from the couple! Every candle you buy will contain a ring inside with a value of $10, $100, $1,000 or $5,000! All you have to do once you see the ring is blow out the candle, remove the foil with tweezers, and unwrap the foil! Pretty unique concept :)

3. Bond No. 9

Pricey, for sure, but totally worth it. Bond No. 9 Candles will make the whole room smell like heaven in a way that you have never experienced...I think what is so unique about these candles is that their scents cannot be mocked. They are so original and you cannot find them anywhere else. They also burn for a long time. They kept my dorm room smelling great last year. If you want to spend a little extra, get one at the link below and try it out. Trust me. My favorites are Park Avenue and Madison Square Park.

4. Yankee Candle

An old classic! This will forever be my all-time favorite scent...Yankee Candle Vanilla Cupcake. YUM! I could literally eat it! It smells like vanilla cupcake batter in a bowl. If you like sweet, homey scents...this is a MUST BUY.

and now for my recent favorite...

5. Votivo

I bought this candle with my mom at a furniture store on the square in Oxford. I picked it up and thought it was the most perfect scent ever...it was called Pink Mimosa. It also came in a really pretty glass jar. When I got home and lit the candle I was in AWE of the aromatic perfection. It is perfect! I went back to the store and bought the same candle as a gift for my friend. She loves it! I searched for it online and found that they have a website. Lucky for me, they sell more than just candles! You can buy incense, sprays, and all kinds of Pink Mimosa goodness. I HIGHLY recommend this one!!

For those of you who REALLY love candles, check out these awesome candle jars from Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. You can always buy a plain candle at any home store and jazz it up with a cool candle jar! These are so unique...

If you try any of my candle recommendations, let me know! I would love to hear your feedback. I actually make candles, too, so maybe I will do a post on that in the future.

Hope y'all have a peaceful and relaxing day!

Anna
